What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
 
 
 
This diagram represents the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. This is a key principle in cognitive behavioural therapy. 
 
Some of the principles of CBT:
 
 
  1. Our Thoughts effect our Emotions that in shape our behaviour.
  2. We think all of the time and some of our thoughts are automatic and occasionally negative.
  3. Such Negative Automatic Thoughts may be driven by the beliefs we hold about ourselves, others, and our future.
  4. These beliefs (self, others, and future) are underpinned by rules for living and these are developed over time – if you like they are our coping mechanisms. Our way of coping with different stressors....
 
 
 
CBT is a great therapeutic intervention for many needs including the treatment of PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD, and many other needs. Sometimes CBT can be used with other forms of therapy - like: Mindfulness and Compassionate Mind!
